Membrane Chemicals
Protect your RO feedwater from scale, bacterial growth and fouling
build up on the membrane surface during operations. GE’s membrane chemicals can help keep
suspended solids, microorganisms, and mineral scale from fouling your membrane elements.
These deposits can cause loss in output and/or rejection levels and reduce total system
performance.

GE offers membrane anti-scalants, membrane cleaners, membrane biological control and
membrane pretreatment chemicals.

Membrane Anti-scalants
Eliminate scale and reduce fouling in your
membrane systems

RO systems creates salt concentrated water streams that
could produce scale or fouling, while “the narrow feedwater
channel found in your spiral wound and hollow fiber elements
accentuates scaling and fouling”. GE's membrane anti-scalants
are a pretreatment programs designed to eliminate scale and
reduce fouling in membrane systems, regardless of the
feedwater source.

the cleaning compounds, their professional application and the
ensure effective results that will protect against irreversible
membrane fouling.

Membrane Biological Control

Reverse osmosis (RO) systems are favorable environments for
microorganisms to thrive. GE’s Biomate* products are non-
oxidizing biocides that are highly effective in reducing bacterial
growth and the build-up of slime on a variety of membrane types.

Biomate MBC products are EPA registered non-oxidizing biocide
for sanitizing RO and ultrafiltration (UF) systems and
membranes. Most effective as bactericides, they will also control
GE’s line of cleaners is formulated to function on all types of membrane systems, including food
and beverage systems and suitable for most of the scale and fouling materials.

While treatment with an ordinary antiscalant does provide some improvement, the use of GE’s

Membrane Pretreatment
Increase pre-filtration efficiency, remove chlorine
and control pH in your feedwater systems
with chlorine to retard microbiological growth. This chlorine,
however, can irreversibly damage many thin-film composite
membranes. GE DeChlor* DCL series is a membrane
pretreatment designed to remove free and combined chlorine
from reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF) feedwaters.
In addition, filter-aid and pH control agents from GE can increase pre-filtration efficiency and
help improve productivity in membrane systems for worry-free RO feedwater. GE's solutions are
suitable for direct membrane filtration processes (UF/MF), multi-media filters and clarifiers.
